Welcome by Band Director

Welcome to the 2010–2011 School Year of the Auburn Mountainview Bands. Wind Ensemble to Marching Band, the air of excitement is thriving as plans for this school year progress.

To date, the enrollment in our program as a whole is the largest we have had since the opening of the school in 2005. Our Marching Band and Color Guard, as an example, is at 50+ members, and our show – “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” – is the largest most exciting daring we have taken on to date. In 2005, our Marching Band opened with 17 kids, making the growth since that year over 250{1ec8167cf327ed469eb8fab131ab3e92ad31a356751a608615762f700011663a}.

This year’s planned trip to Disneyland in Southern California will be the pinnacle of our successes over the past years, as well. All students of the AMHS Band program will be attending this triennial event, participating in performances, professional clinics, and Disney’s Music Magic Days. Plans for the trip are in full swing with our amazing Band Parents Association at the helm, and I have never been more confident of their abilities to pull this off.

Other projects such as the Jazz Ensemble’s first formal application to the New York “Essentially Ellington” Festival at Lincoln Center, and the AMHS Bands entry into the 2010 KISW/The Rock “Battle of the High School Bands”, are in full swing of the planning stages as well. Just the recording sessions and application process will be a great experience for all involved.

However, with all of the experiences aside, the relationships we have built, will build, and will continue to foster in this school and this band program, becoming a standard of excellence. Our staff, students and parents are incredible not for just what they do, but for whom they are to each other. As your director, I am proud to leader of the “Roar of the Lions” Bands. My duties, by the way, for the coming year will include an additional post as the Director of Bands for Cascade Middle School, and it is my hope the trend of community we have here at AMHS will be fostered through my leadership there as well, as well as a great standard of excellence in teaching and performance.

So, again, I say: Welcome to the Auburn Mountainview Bands. You are now, and forevermore a part of a very special community in the performing arts, and we thank you for joining us.
